About This Website.

Three reasons I started this website:

  1. To streamline resource sharing with students I mentor & democratize access to knowledge of how to get coveted jobs out of target schools

  2. To improve my writing in the hopes of not dying a "write-not"

  3. To serendipitously connect with others who share my curiosities

Lectio difficilior potior means "the more difficult reading is stronger." It's a principle from biblical scholarship / textual criticism. Faced with conflicting texts, monks biased towards the harder-to-understand version, trusting that authenticity was most aptly found in complexity. Today, especially with the rise of generative AI, I worry about society's propensity to shy away from that difficulty. The negative externalities of reading less closely, writing less carefully, and thinking less critically are hard to quantify and only just emerging. But this site is my attempt to resist that trend.

Ars memoriae means "the art of memory" and captures my obsession with knowledge management via Obsidian & this site. I think a robust KMS aids learning + memory, which is a secondary goal of this site.
